Pipeline

Daily progress report from WhatsApp

Turns a site supervisor's WhatsApp voice notes and photos into a structured daily progress report: work done against plan, labour, materials, hindrances and issues.

What it does

A reporting pipeline for a contractor running several sites. Supervisors keep doing what they already do, sending voice notes in Tamil or English and photos on WhatsApp through the day. Each evening these become a daily progress report: activities done against the plan, labour by trade, materials received, machinery hours, weather, and hindrances such as a drawing not received or a delayed delivery. The project manager checks it, issues become tracked tasks, and the client gets a clean PDF.

The problem

Daily reports were written late at night, or not at all, and looked different on every site. Hindrances that later decided delay claims were never recorded on the day they happened.

Approach

Supervisors don't learn a new app; the report is built from their messages. Every line keeps a link to the voice note or photo it came from. Hindrances are logged with the date and the party responsible, which is what matters when an extension of time is discussed. The project manager signs off each report before it goes to the client.
